Tarzan and I decided that we fancied a bit of ‘life on the ocean waves’, especially as the weather here in Aruba is very hot at the moment. What better way to cool down than to get out on the open ocean and ‘feel the breeze’? The day started early (well early for us!)…… All on board for 9.15am. The boat trip was promising to be fun and entertaining. The name of the boat “Mi Dushi” means “My Sweetheart” in the local language of Papiamento.

Dreaming

What’s in a dream?

Good question? Recently I was reminded about how we can forget to look at the obvious, a reoccurring, or very vivid dream. Yes, as children we dreamed a lot, and as we got older our dreams were our passions. But as adults maybe we have forgotten the power of our dreams. Continue reading

Out of the Euro! England makes a dramatic exit to the Euro football competition.

(10) Bunting

Come on England.

England out! Italy still in!

What can I say. England put up a hard fight yesterday in the Euro 2012  Football Competition, but unfortunately it was all in vain. We watched from our comfortable surroundings in a friend’s home, on a huge flat screen TV, with loads of food and drinks. We had such high hopes for our country’s team. Penalty shoot-out is such a painful way to exit. Still life goes on, and to be honest, the next round against Germany will be very hard for Italy.

Aruba Film Festival 22-28th June.

Last night Tarzan and I took a walk around the ‘High Rise’ area of Aruba, which is where all of the tourist congregate on an evening. Most of the hot bars and restaurants are there. To our surprise there was ‘red carpet’ laid down (they must have heard that we were around)….LOL…. We realised that the Aruba Film Festival had begun. We did not see anyone famous, but we had to have our photos taken on the ‘red carpet’, pity that we hadn’t dressed for the occasion, unlike most of the local residents who where attending the event! Beach Karaoke in Cambodia, well almost!

Oasis, as sung by a local in Cambodia.

Tarzan has recently returned from a trip around Asia with his daughter and I am trying to collect all of the appropriate videos and photos from a corrupted memory stick, not easy, I am sure you will agree. One such clip that I managed to recover is one of a local waiter, on the beach, singing to Oasis, and doing a fine job of it. You have to let the video roll a bit to get to the good stuff, as editing is not my thing (yet!). Surprisingly this guy could not even speak English a year ago, and now he is fluent and singing as well. I am impressed. See what you think.

Funny food in Asia……..

Tarzan looking for a midnight snack.

Tarzan looking for a midnight snack.

Having spent many trips going to Asia, the food that is served up can be, well, funny. There are many different things available like bugs, worms, maggots, spiders, scorpions, all manner of insects. Nothing is left OFF the menu! If it moves, they eat it, if it doesn’t move, they eat it. Deep fried seems to be the most prefered cooking method. Continue reading
